Invitation to Create exploring art by Picasso

Materials
- Photo of a Picasso painting
- Construction paper
- Crayola washable paints
- ALEX Paint brushes
- Eye stickers
- Cup of water
- Baby wipes - for easy clean up
Step 1:
Setting up the invitation to create prior to children entering the room allows for a smoother transition and less stress.
Step 2:
Discuss how Picasso was a famous artist who loved drawing at a very young age. Did you know that at 2 years old his first word was "piz", which was short for "lapiz" (Spanish for pencil).
Step 3:
Look at the painting together and discuss what you see. Here are a few prompts:
What do you see when you look at this painting?
What shapes do you see?
What colors do you see?
How does this painting make you feel?
Step 4:
Offer the painting supplies to the children and discuss what they're going to paint. How do they want their painting to make them feel?
