Making play dough is a great way to introduce your children to cooking. Here is a simple recipe that does not include using the stove top.
What You Need
- 2.5 cups of flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 1 cup hot water
- 1.5 tablespoons oil
- A Lot of Cinnamon spice
Where To Buy
How 2 Play
1.Mix flour {we use gluten free}, salt and a lot of cinnamon in a large bowl.
Letting your child do these steps helps learn to follow directions and also builds confidence. It might be messy now but believe me, they will get better. You can always make the clean-up fun and get them involved.
2. Have an adult add boiling water (as with any of our activities, supervision is always required. We don't want anyone getting hurt).
We used warm water so she could do the entire recipe by herself. The hotter the water, the easier it is to mix.
3. Let your child add the oil and mix with spoon.
4. When the dough has cooled, you can mix the play-dough with your hands, making it soft and smooth.
This cinnamon play-dough can keep for months if stored in a tight container. We kept ours in baggies inside of the fridge.
