Objective:
Creating simple sensory activities for exploring Seashells.
Skill Development: Sensory Play
Age Range: Preschool
Messiness: Low
Step 1:
Place the seashells and other manipulatives on the light table. Letting children simply explore the objects is exciting for them.
Step 2:
Should you need additional ideas, try some of these:
- Sort objects by color or size
- (large, medium, small)
- Create math games
- (If we have 2 seashells and 3 red circles, how many objects do we have?)
Step 3:
Discuss
The shell is a protective layer created by the animal that lives in the sea. Empty shells can be found online the shore at the beach.
