Counting food pieces builds fine motor skills and makes for a fun snack time @how2playtoday
Messiness: Low         Estimated Time: <30 minutes

This is a fun snack time activity.  This simple project focuses on fine motor skills by picking up the small food items, number recognition as well as following directions.  Happy counting.

How We Did It

Gather your items.  We used a soft cardboard egg carton because it's easier to trim the edges off of.  Use age appropriate small food items for your child.

Write numbers 1 through 12 on the inside of the carton.  I trimmed the sides off and the tops of the center so it can fit into our "project boxes".

Ask your child to count out the correct number of food items and place them in the correct numbered section.  You can start from 1 and continue on to 12 or skip around.

Once all of the sections are filled, ask your child to find a number.  Have her count out the pieces and eat them.  Makes for a fun snack time.
